Virginia Tech offensive line coach Matt Moore has had a strong week. He kicked off the Independence Day celebrations early with a commitment from four-star offensive tackle Thomas Wilder.
Just two days later, Moore added another piece to the 2026 recruiting class as Adrian โAceโ Hamilton announced his decision to join the Hokies.
Adrian โAceโ Hamilton, a 6-foot-2ยฝ, 290-pound lineman from Washington, D.C., has committed to Virginia Tech. A standout at St. Johnโs College High School, Hamilton is ranked as the No. 5 overall prospect in D.C. for the 2026 class and the No. 67 interior lineman nationally, according to 247Sports. Heโs a consensus three-star recruit who chose the Hokies over Michigan State and Virginia.
Though Hamilton had long been interested in Virginia Tech, his official visit last month solidified his decision โ much like fellow commit Thomas Wilder. A strong connection with offensive line coach Matt Moore, dating back to Mooreโs time at West Virginia, along with a solid rapport with head coach Brent Pry, helped tip the scales in Techโs favor.
Hamilton is being brought in as an interior lineman, expected to play center or guard. He becomes the fourth offensive line commit in Virginia Techโs 2026 class, joining Wilder, Buddy Wegdam, and Tyrell Simpson โ all projected tackles. Hamilton is also the ninth overall commitment for the Hokies in the class.
While concerns remain about the programโs overall recruiting pace, Mooreโs success in building the offensive line group marks a noticeable improvement over recent years. Unlike former OL coach Ron Crook, whose recruiting presence was minimal, Moore is making a real impact.
A strong addition for the Hokies.
Welcome aboard, Ace.
