HUGE BOOST: The Hokies Land Another Highly Gifted Versatile Star

Virginia Tech offensive line coach Matt Moore has had a strong week. He kicked off the Independence Day celebrations early with a commitment from four-star offensive tackle Thomas Wilder.

Just two days later, Moore added another piece to the 2026 recruiting class as Adrian โ€œAceโ€ Hamilton announced his decision to join the Hokies.

Adrian โ€œAceโ€ Hamilton, a 6-foot-2ยฝ, 290-pound lineman from Washington, D.C., has committed to Virginia Tech. A standout at St. Johnโ€™s College High School, Hamilton is ranked as the No. 5 overall prospect in D.C. for the 2026 class and the No. 67 interior lineman nationally, according to 247Sports. Heโ€™s a consensus three-star recruit who chose the Hokies over Michigan State and Virginia.

Though Hamilton had long been interested in Virginia Tech, his official visit last month solidified his decision โ€” much like fellow commit Thomas Wilder. A strong connection with offensive line coach Matt Moore, dating back to Mooreโ€™s time at West Virginia, along with a solid rapport with head coach Brent Pry, helped tip the scales in Techโ€™s favor.

Hamilton is being brought in as an interior lineman, expected to play center or guard. He becomes the fourth offensive line commit in Virginia Techโ€™s 2026 class, joining Wilder, Buddy Wegdam, and Tyrell Simpson โ€” all projected tackles. Hamilton is also the ninth overall commitment for the Hokies in the class.

While concerns remain about the programโ€™s overall recruiting pace, Mooreโ€™s success in building the offensive line group marks a noticeable improvement over recent years. Unlike former OL coach Ron Crook, whose recruiting presence was minimal, Moore is making a real impact.

A strong addition for the Hokies.

Welcome aboard, Ace.
