Twins Revelation: The names! Parramatta Eels genius Mitchell Moses officially brings back historic days” as he calls his Twin Babies iconic names in remembrances of Eels Two most valid Legendary Club Icons… here’s the saviour’s names” according to Eel’s insider

Parramatta Eels playmaker Mitchell Moses has revealed a deeply personal tribute to the club’s rich history — naming his newborn twin babies after two of the team’s most beloved icons.

The 29-year-old halfback, who recently celebrated the birth of the twins with partner Bri Gardoni, said the names were chosen as a way to honour the legacy of the Eels and the influence the club has had on his career.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, Moses explained that the decision came naturally after reflecting on his journey in blue and gold.

> “This club has given me everything — my career, incredible memories, and a sense of family,” Moses said. “These names are a small way of saying thank you to the players who inspired me when I was a kid and still inspire me today.”

The Names and Their Significance

The twins — a boy and a girl — were named Sterling and Hindmarsh, in tribute to Eels greats Peter Sterling and Nathan Hindmarsh.

Peter Sterling: Widely regarded as one of the greatest halfbacks in rugby league history, Sterling led Parramatta to four premierships in the 1980s and is still celebrated for his vision, passing game, and leadership.

Nathan Hindmarsh: A tireless second-row forward and fan favourite, Hindmarsh played 330 games for the Eels between 1998 and 2012, renowned for his work rate, defensive grit, and loyalty to the club.

“Sterlo was the master of the game — the way he controlled matches is something I’ve always looked up to,” Moses said. “And Hindy? He’s the heart and soul of the Eels. The way he carried himself on and off the field, you can’t help but respect that.”

Balancing Parenthood and Footy

Moses admitted the arrival of twins has been a whirlwind, with sleepless nights becoming the new normal. However, he says the joy outweighs the exhaustion.

> “It’s chaos — but it’s the best kind of chaos,” he laughed. “Footy teaches you discipline, and right now, that’s coming in handy with nappies and late-night feeds.”

Teammates have rallied around Moses, with captain Clint Gutherson joking that the twins should get their first Eels jerseys “before they can walk.”

A Symbol of Legacy

For Parramatta fans, the gesture is more than just sentimental — it’s a reminder of the club’s proud heritage and the enduring impact of its legends.
Club CEO Jim Sarantinos praised the tribute, saying:

> “Mitchell’s choice speaks volumes about his respect for our history and our people. It’s a beautiful way to connect past, present, and future.”

As the Eels chase another finals run this season, Moses says having Sterling and Hindmarsh — the babies, not the legends — waiting at home gives him even more motivation.

> “Every time I run out there now, I’m not just playing for my teammates and the fans — I’m playing for my kids, whose names carry the weight of greatness.”

For Parramatta, it’s a story that perfectly blends family, loyalty, and the club’s unbreakable spirit — and one that fans will cherish almost as much as a premiership trophy.
