NSL & hummel Unveil Home Jerseys for Inaugural Northern Super League Season
Canadaโs new professional womenโs soccer league, the Northern Super League (NSL), has taken another big step toward its first season by revealing the official home kits for all six of its founding clubs. Designed in partnership with Danish sportswear brand hummel, the jerseys are more than uniformsโtheyโre symbols of identity, culture, and community.
A Partnership & A Purposeful Design
The NSL signed a multiyear deal with hummel late in 2024, naming the brand its exclusive kit provider. The agreement covers both playing and training apparel for all six clubs. hummelโs signature chevrons feature on all kits, along with bespoke designs developed in close collaboration with each club, its staff, and community stakeholders.
According to NSLโs Kelly Shouldice (VP of Brand & Content), the aim was to have kits โdesigned with purpose,โ reflecting club identities, local passion, and the spirit of the players. hummel CEO Lars Stentebjerg echoed this, saying the designs set a new standard for the fledgling league and that both players and fans should wear the kits with pride.
What Each Clubโs Kit Looks Like
Each of the six clubsโCalgary Wild FC, Halifax Tides FC, Montreal Roses FC, Ottawa Rapid FC, AFC Toronto, and Vancouver Rise FCโhas a distinct design theme:
Calgary Wild FC: Deep purple evoking the dusk sky, offset with fiery red from Calgaryโs civic colours. The crest features an owl with penetrating eyes, symbolizing strength, precision, and a methodical, almost stealthy presence on pitch.
Halifax Tides FC: Wave-patterns ripple across the jersey to capture the rhythm and ever-changing nature of the ocean. Itโs meant to mirror momentum, resilience, and progress.
Montrรฉal Roses FC: A bold blue and red palette, designed with local artist Niti Marcelle Mueth, featuring hand-drawn motifs and a striking rose theme, celebrating creativity, courage, and diversity.
