Marc Guehi has spoken out for the first time since the collapse of his highly anticipated transfer to Liverpool, addressing Crystal Palace supporters directly and reaffirming his commitment to the club. The England international, who had been heavily linked with a move to Anfield throughout the summer window, saw negotiations stall in the final days of the market, leaving him to remain at Selhurst Park for the foreseeable future.
Reports had suggested that Liverpool were prepared to make Guehi one of their marquee defensive signings as Jürgen Klopp looked to bolster his backline. However, despite advanced talks and widespread speculation, a deal could not be finalized. While some players might have been unsettled by such a turn of events, Guehi took to Palace’s official media channels and social platforms to deliver a heartfelt message to the fans.
“I know there has been a lot of talk about my future, and I won’t deny that it has been a challenging few weeks,” Guehi said. “But I want to make it clear to everyone connected with Crystal Palace that I remain fully committed to this club. Palace has given me the platform to grow, develop, and earn recognition at the highest level, and for that I will always be grateful. My focus now is to give my all for the badge every time I step on the pitch.”
The 24-year-old center-back, who has established himself as one of the Premier League’s most reliable defenders since arriving from Chelsea in 2021, also praised the supporters for their unwavering backing during the uncertainty. “The fans have been incredible from the moment I joined, and their passion means everything to us as players,” he continued. “I want to repay that loyalty by helping the team achieve our goals this season.”
Palace manager Oliver Glasner is believed to be delighted to have retained his star defender, particularly given Guehi’s leadership qualities and growing influence in the dressing room. With the Eagles aiming to push into the top half of the table, Guehi’s presence will be pivotal to their ambitions.
While speculation over his long-term future may not completely disappear, Guehi’s latest statement has reassured Palace fans that he remains focused and motivated. For now, the chapter on a Liverpool move has closed, and Guehi’s attention is firmly on writing more success stories in South London.
