The Boston Celtics are eyeing a new face in the middle of their championship-contending lineup — and it’s a surprising one. Portuguese big man Neemias Queta is reportedly projected to start at center for the Celtics in the upcoming NBA season, marking a significant step in his development and a potential shift in Boston’s rotation.
Queta, 7’0″ and 250 pounds, became the first Portuguese player ever drafted into the NBA when the Sacramento Kings selected him 39th overall in 2021. After two years with limited opportunities in Sacramento, he joined the Celtics in 2023 on a two-way contract.
