Lucas Paquetá has confirmed that the 2025-26 season will be his final one at West Ham, in a deeply emotional message addressed to the club and its supporters.
In an Instagram post, Paquetá thanked the fans for standing by him through “the darkest period” of his life—referring to the two-year FA investigation into alleged spot-fixing, from which he was cleared. He spoke of loyalty—both theirs toward him, and his toward the club—even when things were difficult.
He wrote:
> “It’s about choosing those who welcomed you, who never judged you, who believed in you until the very last moment, who loved you and made you feel at home.
It’s about staying loyal not only when you had everything, but also when there was nothing.
It’s not time to say goodbye yet! Let’s go together for one more season!”
Although his contract with West Ham runs until 2027, with an option to extend for another year, Paquetá says he will not see that out—he intends to move on once this coming season ends.
He also made a visible show of his commitment during recent matches: after scoring in West Ham’s 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest, he mimed hanging up a phone, wagged his finger in a gesture of refusal, and kissed the club badge in front of fans—seeming to reject rumours that he wanted to leave immediately.
Fans will now be watching this season as what Paquetá hopes will be a final chapter full of gratitude, loyalty, and unity—with both player and supporters aware that it’s “one more season” together.
