West Ham Captain Jarrod Bowen Admits Club Are in Trouble After Defeat to Leeds United
West Ham United captain Jarrod Bowen has delivered a brutally honest assessment of his teamโs current form following their disappointing 2-1 defeat to Leeds United at Elland Road. The loss, their third in four matches, has left the Hammers hovering dangerously close to the Premier League relegation zone, and Bowen didnโt mince words in his post-match interview.
โWeโre in trouble โ thereโs no hiding from it,โ Bowen admitted. โToo many of us are playing without bravery, without belief. Weโre second to every ball and not showing the fight that this badge deserves. If we donโt change that quickly, weโll find ourselves in a serious battle.โ
The Hammers took an early lead through a well-taken goal from Mohammed Kudus, but once again, defensive lapses proved costly. Leeds struck back through Crysencio Summerville before Georginio Rutter sealed the win late in the second half. The defeat highlighted West Hamโs ongoing struggles in both consistency and mentality, something Bowen believes has become a major issue.
โAs captain, I take responsibility, but itโs not just about one or two players โ itโs about all of us,โ Bowen continued. โYou can talk about tactics or bad luck, but at the end of the day, itโs about courage on the pitch. We need to be braver with the ball, stronger in challenges, and hungrier to win.โ
West Hamโs recent slump has put pressure on manager Julen Lopeteg
