West Ham Captain Jarrod Bowen Admits Club Are in Trouble After Defeat to Leeds United

West Ham United captain Jarrod Bowen has delivered a brutally honest assessment of his team’s current form following their disappointing 2-1 defeat to Leeds United at Elland Road. The loss, their third in four matches, has left the Hammers hovering dangerously close to the Premier League relegation zone, and Bowen didn’t mince words in his post-match interview.

“We’re in trouble — there’s no hiding from it,” Bowen admitted. “Too many of us are playing without bravery, without belief. We’re second to every ball and not showing the fight that this badge deserves. If we don’t change that quickly, we’ll find ourselves in a serious battle.”

The Hammers took an early lead through a well-taken goal from Mohammed Kudus, but once again, defensive lapses proved costly. Leeds struck back through Crysencio Summerville before Georginio Rutter sealed the win late in the second half. The defeat highlighted West Ham’s ongoing struggles in both consistency and mentality, something Bowen believes has become a major issue.

“As captain, I take responsibility, but it’s not just about one or two players — it’s about all of us,” Bowen continued. “You can talk about tactics or bad luck, but at the end of the day, it’s about courage on the pitch. We need to be braver with the ball, stronger in challenges, and hungrier to win.”

West Ham’s recent slump has put pressure on manager Julen Lopeteg
