HUGE BOOST: The Hokies Land Another Highly Gifted Versatile Star

Virginia Tech offensive line coach Matt Moore has had a strong week. He kicked off the Independence Day celebrations early with a commitment from four-star offensive tackle Thomas Wilder.

Just two days later, Moore added another piece to the 2026 recruiting class as Adrian “Ace” Hamilton announced his decision to join the Hokies.

Adrian “Ace” Hamilton, a 6-foot-2½, 290-pound lineman from Washington, D.C., has committed to Virginia Tech. A standout at St. John’s College High School, Hamilton is ranked as the No. 5 overall prospect in D.C. for the 2026 class and the No. 67 interior lineman nationally, according to 247Sports. He’s a consensus three-star recruit who chose the Hokies over Michigan State and Virginia.

Though Hamilton had long been interested in Virginia Tech, his official visit last month solidified his decision — much like fellow commit Thomas Wilder. A strong connection with offensive line coach Matt Moore, dating back to Moore’s time at West Virginia, along with a solid rapport with head coach Brent Pry, helped tip the scales in Tech’s favor.

Hamilton is being brought in as an interior lineman, expected to play center or guard. He becomes the fourth offensive line commit in Virginia Tech’s 2026 class, joining Wilder, Buddy Wegdam, and Tyrell Simpson — all projected tackles. Hamilton is also the ninth overall commitment for the Hokies in the class.

While concerns remain about the program’s overall recruiting pace, Moore’s success in building the offensive line group marks a noticeable improvement over recent years. Unlike former OL coach Ron Crook, whose recruiting presence was minimal, Moore is making a real impact.

A strong addition for the Hokies.

Welcome aboard, Ace.
